– The Brief

Before coming to Pod Digital GK Plumbing & Heating was overspending on marketing with Yell. Their expenditure vs ROI was unimpressive and was simply not what the team at GK was expecting. After an initial call with Pod Digital’s company owner, Mike Mckinlay, Gareth, a plumber with over 25 years experience in the plumbing and heating industry and his wife, Kelly took the plunge and opted to invest smartly in his online marketing.

GK Plumbing & Heating already had a ‘functionable’ website but it was quite clear from the offset that subtle technical and visual changes needed to be made to improve the user experience and increase search visibility. To gain the success wanted on Google and other major search engines, Pod Digital was trusted to produce a genuine strategy that would boost keywords for organic search, PPC and Google My Business visibility.

The Challenge

The real challenge was to get GK Plumbing & Heating ranking for area specific keywords relating to plumbing & heating. The priority was to boost Aylesbury keywords but there was also a need to rank in regional areas since GK have expanded their services to the whole of Buckinghamshire and areas in Oxfordshire. To do this a full SEO plan including a keyword researched sitemap was required followed by real effort from the full digital marketing team to improve onpage and offpage SEO.

– The Outcome

To start we improved the visual of the website by adding new images, a boiler comparison chart and making it clear on the homepage what areas GK service. As these were some quick wins to improve the website, we then conducted in-depth keyword research to determine what area pages we should target. These included keywords such as 'Plumbers in Abingdon' and 'Plumbers in Beaconsfield'.

These were service pages, specifically targeting particular locations - this allowed local customers to contact GK quickly and have clear and concise answers on the website, before speaking to a professional. Local SEO pages for GK Plumbing significantly boosted their conversion rate online, and expanded their local customer base.
